2021 Cruse Wine Co. Syrah Charles Heintz Vineyard (Sonoma Coast, CA) 7R

This Syrah originates from the Charles Heintz vineyard in Occidental, a cool location on the edge of Syrah ripening in western Sonoma County. The 2021 vintage resulted in lower alcohol content and lighter tannins. The nose features floral and olive tones with hints of smoked meat, while the palate offers flavors of blueberry and wet stone. This wine pairs well with a slight chill and a hamburger.

    About The Varietal

    Syrah

Shiraz and Syrah are interchangeable names for the same dark-skinned grape variety when viewed in terms of DNA. Originating in the Rhône Valley, this grape dominates plantings in the northern section of the valley. The name Shiraz is commonly used in Australia and certain regions of the New World, particularly those with warmer climates. The stylistic differences between Shiraz and Syrah wines are often distinct, contributing to the enduring dual identities of this grape variety.
