2021 Corinne et Jean-Pierre Grossot "Mont de Milieu" Chablis 1er Cru (Burgundy, FR) 3W

The family owns two-thirds of a hectare in the steep, south-facing Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu vineyard near Fleys, adjacent to the Grands Crus. The vines average 26 years and grow in Kimmeridgian limestone-clay soil. Two-thirds of the volume ferments and matures on fine lees in tanks, while the other third is transferred to 228 and 600-litre oak casks for fermentation and aging, with occasional battonage until March. Each part undergoes malolactic fermentation separately, and the final blend is assembled in June, with bottling occurring the second January after harvest.

This intense cuvée showcases remarkable structure, power, and purity, featuring notes of lemon cream, citrus, and minerals. It requires three to five years of bottle age to fully reveal its complexity.

    About The Varietal

    Chardonnay

Chardonnay, possibly the most famous among white grape varieties, is frequently regarded as reaching its peak expression in its Burgundian birthplace. However, this grape has journeyed across the globe, and Chardonnay wines, ranging from outstanding to less inspiring, can now be discovered in various wine-producing regions worldwide.
